Thanks for visiting developingwriters.org, a blog about composition in the digital age, contexts for learning, issues of teaching and learning, theories of development, and global youth. My name is Anna Smith, and I am a teacher, teacher educator and educational researcher currently working on my dissertation research in at New York University.

This site is a companion to the recently released book Developing Writers: Teaching and Learning in the Digital Age written with Richard Andrews of the London Institute of Education.

Once the proofs were done and the press began to run, I felt a loss. Among other things in that book, we discuss the difference between composition for the page and composition for the screen (and the networked screen). Composition for the page–at some point–dies. I wanted a place to keep the conversation I hope is sparked from ”pages” of our book alive and well. What better way to do that than to create a companion “networked screen” with all its dynamic and interactive affordances?
